Putting together the outfit

4/10/18

After I have the design down for my dancing Power Woman and get her painted, I then start working on the outfit.
First...I look through all my boxes of Citro Solve papers and printed papers and put ones together that have contrast to one another and look good together.  Then I get out my special purchased papers and do the same.  When I decide on the look..and the colors I like best ..then
Second ...I use tracing paper to design an outfit over the top of the naked woman.  These have always been in at least two pieces..the top and the bottom..usually with tights or bloomers.. The headdress is usually the last thing I work on.
Third..I start cutting out one piece at a time and trying it on..slowly building up the layers. I am now paying more attention to making the cuts to help create the effect of the sleeves going around the arms  and the jackets going behind the back.
At this stage I may have to try several different jackets to get the "right" one. What I think will look good doesn't always. Sooo I keep making tops and bottoms until I find the perfect ones!
Forth..I start to glue the pieces in place. This is more difficult than you might think as some are small and all have to be in exactly the right spot to look right.  some of the papers are thin and with glue on them they curl up...fun. It is when it turns out right!

The Brochures and Posters are here!!

4/5/18

This is always an exciting time for CAA studio artists as it signals the coming of the Studio Tour that we have now been working on for  almost 7 months.  I have spent many hours selling ads for the brochure and getting new work ready for the big event.  We had to have our image in last November so to now see it in the brochure is sooo exciting.  I love the way our graphic designer put the pages together.  This year the images are bigger with just 4 to a page and our page..location 19...looks awesome!! Thank you Rhonda Huntermark for a job well done!

This year we are adding the very cool coasters to our ad campaign.  These are going out to bars and restaurants as yet another way to get our message out there!! 20 years we have been doing this and there are still people that live here that don't know about us!

Heritage Bank Display

4/5/18

This month we are showing artwork at Heritage Bank and giving people the opportunity to learn about and give to the CAA scholarship program.  This is a great way to let the public see some of the art and advertise for the upcoming CAA Studio Tour that happens every Mother's Day weekend.  This is our 20th year and we are hoping to make it the best ever!  This is the painting of mine that is showing at the bank..The Offering..a collage on canvas 12" by 12".
